What are the different lighting types in Juwel tanks?
There are 3 different types of lighting for Juwel tanks: T8, T5 and LED.
- T8 fluorescent lamps were introduced for the Juwel’s initial tanks but phased out in 2007.
- T5 fluorescent lamps then replaced the T8 and were in production for 10 years, from 2007 until 2017.
- LED are the most recent and have the most efficient energy lighting; Juwel introduced these in 2017 and are currently supplied with all Juwel tanks.
Which one do I need for my tank?
- T8 bulbs (Before-2007) are 25mm in diameter, their output is 560 Lumen and they use 15 watts of power.
- T5 bulbs (2007-2017) are 16mm in diameter, their output is 1200 Lumen and they use 26 watts of power.
- LED bulbs (2017-Present) are 16mm in diameter, their output is a whopping 1380 Lumen and they use a mere 12 watts of power in comparison to fluorescent tubes.
